Uses for Healthy Minds Data

Healthy Minds will provide a customized data report showing average values for all measures in the survey, both for your students and frot he national sample. You will also receive the complete individual-level data set for your students, which you can use for additional analysis. Schools across the country have used Healthy Minds data to:

Assess a range of mental health topics on campus

  • Prevalence of mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and self-injury
  • Utilization of mental health services, including medication and therapy
  • Potential barriers to utilizing mental health services, such as stigma and knowledge
  • Positive mental health

This year we are offering a module to assess alcohol and substance use, including prevalence of behaviors, experience of negative health and social consequences, utilization of intervention and treatment services and barriers to accessing those services.

Make the case for resourves to address student mental health

  • Demonstrate key needs for your student population
  • Show how mental health relates to other key outcomes, including substance use, GPA, and retention
  • Present data to high-level administrators
  • Use the data to support grant applications (e.g., SAMHSA suicide prevention grants)
  • Develop targeted, effective interventions
  • Evaluate existing policies, services and programs related to mental health
  • Inform the development of new programs, interventions, and services
